Chair Story – Funding Melanoma Research and MelaNoMore Volunteer

Pam Walls Bio

Mine is a relative’s view of the devastating effects of melanoma. In February 2016, I lost my wonderful partner, Steve, to this horrible cancer. We went through the various treatments together; always looking on the positive side, and finding solutions to the many problems thrown at us. There is no doubt in my mind that the excellent treatment we received at the Royal Surrey and St Lukes extended Steve’s life and we made the very most of it – spending his 60th birthday (December 2015) in the best hotel in Nice. I will always be so grateful for this.
A year later, with Steve’s consultant, Dr Ajaz, I set up Story FMR principally to raise funds for research, but also to “spread the word” about the dangers of over-exposure to the sun, by sharing patients’ stories. Please read mine at: https://storyfmr.net/steve-brundles-story/
I have met many inspirational, brave and frightened people during the life of Story FMR. The MelaNoMore patient support group aims to extend the hand of friendship to those going through what can be a very isolating experience. I have no medical expertise, but I would like to hear your story, and support you in any way that I can.
